FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
Galatians 5:22-26
ACS theme for 2010-2011
Our theme for the 2010-2011 will be focused on the Fruits of the Spirit. Each month we will focus on a different Fruit of the Spirit. It will be discussed and emphasized in chapel, class, and school-wide devotional events.
Galatians 5:22-23 is not a plan to achieve better faith. Rather, it is a description of God’s personal gifts to all of us. If we follow God and seek his blessing, then the Fruits of the Spirit are a natural overflow in our relationship with God. We are to grow in character so that one day we will reflect the image of our Lord.
September – Love – (What is love and what does it look like? What are different kinds of love? God does not love us because we are loveable; He loves us because He is love.)
October – Joy – (What does joy look like in our lives and how does it help? Joy is the emotional response to God’s presence in our lives.)
November – Peace – (Is peace really the opposite of war? Peace isn’t something we obtain; it is something we become as God’s Spirit gains control of our lives.)
December – Patience – (How can I practice patience? Patience is something God develops in us as He takes over.)
January – Kindness – (How should we exhibit kindness to all people? We are to consider others before we consider ourselves. This is the essence of kindness we are called to embody.)
February – Goodness – (Is it the opposite of being bad? Goodness means to allow God’s criteria to supercede our criteria. As we allow God control of our lives, we will reflect His goodness in the way we live.)
March – Faithfulness – (Shield of Faith (Ephesians 6:10-18) How does our faith protect us from Satan? Time and time again, God shows that He keeps His promises; He is faithful.)
April – Gentleness – (Gentleness allows us to approach God, climb into His lap, and share our hearts. Gentleness allows God to visit us where we are.)
May – Self-control – (Letting God control our every thought, word, step… Self-control demands that we evaluate the possible consequences of our actions before we decide to act, not after the fact.)
