Arnett McClure

Athletic Director, Head Volleyball Coach, Head Tennis Coach

Arnett McClure has served Abilene Christian School since 2020, beginning his tenure as the Girls Athletic Director, Head Volleyball Coach, and Head Coach for both the boys and girls tennis teams. Currently entering his third year as the overall Athletic Director, Coach McClure remains committed to leading a Christ-centered athletic program that emphasizes character development, discipline, and teamwork.

His coaching philosophy centers on encouraging student-athletes to honor God with their talents, demonstrate integrity both on and off the field or court, and strive for excellence in all they do.

As Head Volleyball Coach, Coach McClure has led the ACS team to a regular season record of 104-55-2. Under his leadership, the team has advanced to the Area Round three times, reached the Regional Round once, and competed in the TAPPS State Tournament during the 2023–2024 season.

In tennis, his players have achieved significant individual success, earning 1 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze medals. On the team level, both the boys and girls squads have placed as state runners-up twice and finished third once. Most notably, the Boys Tennis Team captured the TAPPS State Championship in the 2023–2024 season.

Coach McClure and his wife of 25 years, Shasta, are proud parents of three children—Austin and Allie, both ACS graduates, and Myra, who is currently in middle school. He considers it a great honor to serve the students and families of Abilene Christian School and is proud to be a Panther.

Athletic Department Mission

The ACS athletic program is committed to glorifying God by pursuing excellence in all team sports by the shaping of our student-athlete’s character through the teaching and application of humility, integrity, discipline, hard work, commitment, obedience, and a healthy competitive spirit.

Extra-curricular athletic activities provide an opportunity for students to devolop valuable moral character and leadership skills that will benefit them the rest of their lives.

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
Colossians 3:17
