Student Life at Abilene Christian School

Faith in Action. Community in Our Hearts.

At Abilene Christian School, student life is about more than what happens inside the classroom. We believe some of the most meaningful lessons are learned when students step outside themselves and into the lives of others.

Through opportunities to serve throughout the Abilene community, our students learn that faith is something we live out every day. From delivering meals to neighbors in need to serving alongside local organizations and blessing families during the Christmas season, ACS students are encouraged to lead with compassion, generosity, and a heart for others.

DUO Day: Serving Our Community

DUO Day stands for “Do Unto Others” and is a special day of service that gives our secondary students the opportunity to put their faith into action throughout the Abilene community.

During this half-day experience, students step beyond the classroom and partner with local organizations to serve, encourage, and make a difference. Students have served at organizations including the Food Bank, Global Samaritan, Noah Project, Houses for Healing, Abilene Homeless, and other community partners throughout Abilene.

DUO Day is more than a day of volunteering. It is an opportunity for students to discover the joy of serving others, develop servant leadership, build meaningful relationships, and see firsthand how small acts of kindness can make a lasting difference.

We are proud to watch our middle school and high school students show up ready to work hard, serve others, and love their community well. Through DUO Day, our students are learning to live out their faith in ways that extend far beyond the walls of ACS.

A Tradition of Serving: Meals on Wheels

Service has been part of the ACS experience for generations.

For our 30 years, our fifth grade students have faithfully served our community through Meals on Wheels. Each week, students help deliver warm, nutritious meals to seniors and adults with disabilities who are unable to prepare meals for themselves.

But the experience is about more than delivering a meal. It is a moment of connection, encouragement, and care—a reminder to our neighbors that they are seen, valued, and loved.

Meals on Wheels has been serving communities since 1975, and ACS is grateful to have partnered with this incredible organization for more than 40 years. Through this longstanding tradition, our fifth graders learn that serving others is not simply something we do; it is part of who we are.

We are thankful for the students, teachers, and volunteers who continue this meaningful tradition year after year.

Christmas in Our Community: Giving Hope and Joy

The spirit of service at ACS extends throughout the year—and especially during the Christmas season.

Each year, our school family has the joy of partnering with Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) at the Betty Hardwick Center to help provide Christmas for local families in need. This longstanding partnership gives our ACS community an opportunity to come together and bless families who may be walking through difficult seasons.

Through the generosity and compassion of our ACS family, we are able to share more than gifts. We share hope, joy, and the love of Christ.

Serve. Encourage. Love. Lead.

That is student life at Abilene Christian School—where students are encouraged to live out their faith, serve others with compassion, and make a difference in the lives of those around them, both today and wherever God leads them in the future.
