Head Tennis Coach
Coach Houston is the Athletic Director for ACS, as well as the head coach for the Varsity girl’s basketball team and high school tennis team. He graduated from Lipscomb University with a degree in Business Management and Business Education. He earned his master's degree from Georgia State in Education Administration and Supervision.
Coach Houston began teaching at ACS in 1996. In addition to coaching basketball and tennis, he also teaches high school bible.
His wife Carole also works at ACS and they have four children. They are members at Hillcrest Church of Christ.
Assistant Tennis Coach
Coach Beckam has lived in Abilene since 1990 and she and her husband, Rob, have 3 sons: Bryson, Alex, and Austin. Julie graduated from UT in Austin with a BSME in Engineering. After working in Process and Equipment Design for Frito-Lay/ PepsiCo, Inc, in Dallas for five years, she attended graduate school in Business at ACU before starting Computer Vision, a Technology and Network Services Business in downtown Abilene, which she owned and operated for 18 years. She is now an active community volunteer and has served in many capacities on boards of charitable and civic organizations in the West Texas Area.
In 2010, Julie helped bring the USTA Junior Team Tennis Program (JTT) to Abilene and served as League Coordinator for 12 seasons. JTT serves 250+ youth players, ages 5-18, in Fall and Spring leagues. The Abilene JTT Program was awarded Texas Program of the year in 2013. Julie is an active tennis player and she is currently serving on the board of the Abilene Tennis Association (ATA) and is a certified USTA Texas and ITA College Tennis Official.
